Gone Forever

Image
Don’t “they” say the first step to solving a problem is admitting there is one? Well, here: I have a food addiction. I have an unhealthy lifestyle. I am fat. There are those words staring me in the face. The words have now been given life in the form of an admission and I now control what happens.    For so long, too long, I have tried to lose weight, but I never really wanted to admit I was fat and in an abusive relationship with food. Good day? Rewarded myself with food. Had a bad day? Drowned my sorrows in bites, felt fat? Ate cake! Felt skinny? Ate cake! You can even scroll through old blog posts where I have poured myself out about wanting to lose weight. Here’s the deal: I was so focused on losing weight that I instantly became a failure. What I needed to focus on was a lifestyle change: a healthy mindset that overflowed into the physical realm.       Since forever, I have struggled with my weight. I know how it is to look in the mir...

Why Saints Fans Are Better

Image
The Saints have started this football season 0-2. We have not had a start to a season like this in 5 years and yet, I still believe. I still believe in this organization and these boys. Sure, sometimes the fans of the Black and Gold get a bad wrap but, here's why I think Saint's fans are the best in the league: * We own the losses just like the wins. We don't make excuses. We admit when we are outplayed. *Our boys are our biggest fans as well. They really are. They love the Who Dat Nation and they love my city and my state.  *We have to fight and overcome for every victory both on and off the field. Everyone  loves a comeback story and boy, aren't we a good one! We are all a "comeback" story, if you think about it! Sure, some of us are still trying to pull ourselves up to be a comeback story, but in due time, everyone is a comeback story.  *The Saints have brought families together. They have brought our state together! *We aren't a c...

Adventure on a Budget

Image
SO its Friday night and I just realized I have spent most of the evening on the interwebs with my facebook up….and now people KNOW I don’t have a life, however, it was productive time, right? ;) Tonight’s blog is dedicated to one of the cheapest lunches, ever! In this time of economic crisis and super crazy couponin' shoppers, my friend Erika and I have found different ways to save. This lunch however was very much a random stop for us on a day business trip to Lafayette. We were starving and on a whim turned into a place called Chris’ PoBoys: We decided to look at the menu and if we couldn’t afford it (because yes we are both on a strict budget) that we would walk out with our heads held high. You could say that we really have no shame! We find a place to sit in the back so we can take in the entire restaurant and take in the menu. Looks good to me! We order water and both individually decide on the Chris’ Special however, thanks to the sweet waitress we ordered a who...

Dinner & Drama

Image
It was a Friday evening. The sun was casting the most glorious glow across the city. HA! Who am I kidding?!?! Friday night Heath and I went to dinner at the Peking Restaurant on Jackson Street. Lovely, place. I personally enjoyed their music taste. I mean anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE Celine Dion so when “My Heart Will Go On” was being belted from the speakers, I had to restrain myself from singing along. However, when Celine Dion is followed by Christmas Music….in June, I know that I have found a new place to call home! The restaurant is buffet which is usually not my favorite but this night I was super glad with my suggestion to go there. We are sitting have a delightful conversation about the goings and comings of life when out the window I notice some major high school-esque drama taking place. Immediately, Heath and I are intrigued and glued to the window like vulchers. (Shameful, I know!!) There’s a girl outside ranting and raving complete with arm and neck motions (you k...
